INTRODUCTION:
Due to the rapid global increase in severe respiratory failure caused by the 2019 new coronavirus (COVID-19), anxiety and worries have increased in the population, which has led to the appearance of stigma and discrimination towards people who could be in contact with the virus. This stigmatization process is due to the fact that it is a new disease and the tendency of human beings to fear the unknown, contagious and undesirable.

Stigma/discrimination can negatively affect strategies to confront the COVID-19 epidemic. Therefore, the international community has spoken out on the need to end stigmatizing behaviors; However, there is little information on this topic. Knowing the dynamics of the stigmatization process towards COVID-19 can be useful for the design of stigma reduction programs.

OBJECTIVE:
Determine the prevalence and factors associated with stigma and discrimination in relation to the COVID-19 epidemic in a sample of adults residing in Colombia, Argentina and Mexico between May and August 2020. METHOD

:
An observational, analytical study will be carried out. and transversal. A non-probabilistic sample will be taken from the countries of at least 386 participants in each one. Stigma-discrimination will be taken as the dependent variable, fear of COVID-19 and lack of knowledge and misperceptions about COVID-19 as independent variables and demographic variables as covariates. Univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis will be performed.

The recommendations of Ethical Considerations for Research on Humans will be taken into account according to the corresponding Resolution of each country.

EXPECTED RESULTS:
25% of participants are expected to report high level stigma-discrimination related to COVID-19. The high level of stigma and discrimination will be associated with a high level of fear of COVID-19, ignorance and wrong perceptions about COVID-19.
